課程概述 |
Only students in this lab including those in the MS, PhD, and DVM (undergraduate) programs are allowed to register in this course. It is a “lecture and discussion” of 2 unit credits, i.e. 2 hours per week, given usually 14:00 to 16:00 PM every Friday, but the schedule can be adjusted to participants via agreement. Approximately half of the course will be pathology lecture given by FIW to enhance the links between theory and practice of veterinary pathology. Because the training of MS students in the resident program is quite fragmented, i.e. the disease appeared in random hence the learning is fragmented, my lecture will try to piece the fragmented learning systemic. The other half of the course will be student presentations for their research progress, difficulties faced in research, journal reading and discussion. Because there have already frequent day by day interactions between the instructor and students, this revenue emphasizes more on mutual learning and growth. Undergraduate students must be really participating in the lab activity such as the practice of bench skills or carrying out independent projects before they are allowed to join this course. The MS student may be asked to report his/her research progress and share the problems faced in carrying out the research. He/She is required to summarize research results in a MS degree thesis, and a ready to submit manuscript is not a requirement at this stage. From the perspective of teaching philosophy, this course is 50% “to instruct “and 50% “to invite and to inspire”. From the perspective of teaching skill, it is about 80% teach students “how to answer questions” and 20% “how to ask questions”. |
